Quarantine - Day 6-9 - Mass Updates cause you know...I got busy. :)
Crazy...that's how it goes.
Seriously...I thought things were supposed to slow down during this thing. :)
Izzy and I are doing a bit better. She seems to have come to grips with the whole "I'm gonna just be stuck at home now" and was totally on her phone I believe literally from morning to night with her BF. I can't blame her. I can't help putting myself in this position as a younger person. If this had happened while I was at Oswego I'm pretty sure I would have invented 50 different reasons to stay on campus awhile before probably relenting once my other friends went home. This would be nuts for all of us so I can take a bit of an understanding tone probably.
By Saturday things were fine.
I started working from home Thursday. It was really weird and yet also really great. I worked from home fulltime for four years back in 2007-2011. It's amazing how the old skills/disciplines came back. Making sure I'm at my desk on time, keeping 'sticky notes' in Windows on one of my monitors with tasks and information I might need, being on conference calls. It all came flooding back and I found myself exercising muscles I missed using. In fact I was a bit disappointed when we realized that I probably had to go in Friday to fix the two laptops I couldn't get working last week.
Going in on Friday I was again just put off at how eerie the center is with no students and very little staff there. It's quiet. The gothic architecture makes it feel somewhat offputting without the sound of kids laughing or staff speaking or the radio going off. That place is really alive when the students are there filling it. I personally can't wait till this is over.
The rest of the weekend was busy but fruitful. We got another grocery order picked up, I managed to get an ergonomic keyboard to be able to work from home a lot easier (I haven't had one in awhile as I took mine into the office to use because I did most of my typing there).
Saturday night was another "Online bash' with Oswego people on Zoom. This week even more came in. It was excellent. First as I've written before...to be a part of something so big and awesome...knowing all these great people (and even one Grammy nominee...:) ), sitting doing what we always did (having some 'pops' and sharing outrageous stories and more than a few pictures with each other. It really is the highlight of our week. Believe it or not Wendy and I are pretty social (More me than her I'll grant you) and being cooped up is tough on us sometimes as it would be for anyone. These calls remind us we come from somewhere and not just somewhere but I think some of the best times we've ever had. It's been one of the things that have kept us together...our history. It's been amazing.
Sunday we spent time as a family. Nick (since he has the kids 2-5 days a week same as we do we consider this ok) came over and we started a new D&D campaign. It was awesome and fun.
Today I begin my work from adventure.
